EarFun UBOOM® - Black

I have never had a 360 degree sound speaker, but everyone on my group trip this weekend loved this speaker when compared to 4 or 5 others. Placing it on a table indoors really makes great use of the sound. Normally I place a speaker like this high up on a shelf in the corner for maximum sound, but this one sounds better in the middle of the room. It didn't shine on the shelf, but the 360 sound is awesome. If I was going to get two for pairing, I think i would opt for directional speakers, but I will have to get a second one of these to determine that.One of the most impressive things is that the sound is great out of the box. A lot of these speakers require some equalizer tuning, but with the outdoor/indoor mode button, you will probably find the sound you want without the equalizer on your phone. Show Full Review

Giving this a 4 star because this is definitely not "Deep Bass". The bass is decent, not bad at all. I also have the 1st gen Logitech MEGABOOM. One on One, the MEGABOOM is definitely a lot better, but when you pair two EarFun UBOOMs together, it sounds better than the MEGABOOM by itself. If you don't mind getting used MEGABOOMs you can get one for around ~$50 on eBay, which is the same price as the brand new UBOOM. Get two used MEGABOOMs pair them together, it'll definitely sound way better than a pair of UBOOMs.I do notice when listening to classical music with the UBOOM, it sounds better because the instruments sounds more crisp, the MEGABOOM is not as good with classical.These speakers suck if you plan to watch videos with them. I tried watching Youtube videos with them on my Samsung S10 Plus and on my computer that has BT4.0. I can't get the audio to match the video perfectly. Update 11-6-19: Although the bluetooth connection is flaky, I have found a use for them when plugged in directly via stereo audio cable. Since they function ok via this method, I added a few stars back. They really need to fix this wireless reliability issue to deserve 5 stars.Sound quality is great and is loud enough for any room. What I didn't like was the fussy BT connection they had. I have never had this kind of issue with other BT speakers. This completely detracts from the sound quality. It doesn't seem to play well in the presence of other BT devices like a mouse. Audio is disrupted and connection with the device is frequently lost even when right next to the device. I have tested this with an iPad Pro and a Win 10 laptop with similar results. As long as there are no other BT connections nearby, these speakers work, but they should work in all conditions. Owner's manual is very inadequate. It doesn't explain what the LED indicators(color/blinking patterns) mean leaving the user to guess. It is mostly a pictorial guide. I was looking for speakers that I could keep in my 3-season room to enjoy music while I was enjoying the room. This speaker (I got two since they could pair!) solved all the needs that I had and those I didn't know I had.

1. They are outdoor speakers, so as the temperature/humidity fluctuates inside the 3-season room, I won't have to worry about ruining them.
2. They are blue-tooth enabled.
3. They have a "loop" of material built into them, so I can hang them on a nail or "hook" in my case.
4. They have a rechargeable battery in them so I don't have to worry providing power to them.
5. I can easily take them off the hooks that they're on and put them on the deck, which is next to the 3-season room when I want to bring my music "outside" when we're eating or just enjoying the evening on the deck.
6. Because they have 360 degree sound, it doesn't matter where the speakers are pointing or the angle that they're sitting on the hook/wall, because the sounds will come out everywhere and will bounce off all the available walls close by which allows the sound to be heard well not matter the speaker's position.

Here is some information about my experience that either conflicts with, or backs up some of the other reviews:

1. Placing them in the corner adds to the sound tremendously, giving it much more depth.
2. I have an android phone and my other USB=C cables charge the speakers just fine (unlike the experience that others have reported). We have also have an SIIG power center whose cords also charge this up just fine.
3. The base sounds great and doesn't overwhelm/distort the music.

Some things of note that I don't believe others have mentioned:

1. After you "pair" two speakers, they remember each other and automatically pair again when you turn them on. (I turn my initial speaker on first, and when I turn the second one on, it successfully pairs...I believe you have to turn them on in that order for them to pair...though I haven't verified.
2. The speakers automatically adjust to have the same volume. (I turned the first speaker up loud. When I received my second speaker, I didn't adjust the volume and I wondered how it would sound. Well, they both had the same volume. A very cool feature!
3. When you turn off the first speaker, the second one automatically shuts off! Amazing!
4. If you pause the music for too long, the speakers will turn off, which is a nice battery-saving feature.

I think the music sounds amazing, especially for the great price and compared to the previous bluetooth speaker I was using. I mainly listened to piano music. When I first got these, it sounded like someone was playing the piano live. I've recently switched back to Jesus Culture and Bethel Music type of music and the sound is still simply amazing.

Getting two of these speakers is one of the best decisions I've ever made since I get so much pleasure by listening to music through them. They've taken my 3-season room, relaxing experience to a whole new level! Show Full Review

I have had many many bluetooth speakers. I had an original Jambox, got the original JBL Flip and several others. Since I have audiophile systems in my house, my bluetooth speakers are primarily travel companions. Which speaker I bring depends on if I am traveling carryon/backpack or with a with suitcase. My light travel speaker is a the Boombot Pro, which only weighs 8oz, yet has two drivers 10w, is waterproof and tiny. Volume is very loud, as in nearly equivalent to this earfun when measured with a DB meter. Of course it struggles with clarity and distortion to produce so much sound from such a small box. My other travel speaker is a 20w Cansolo M, it is about the size and weight of hard cover book. Over 2.5lbs. It has a DSP and two large woofers and bass radiators. I would put the bass of it as slightly more natural than the earfun. The earfun does sparkle with the highs a bit more, I suspect the cansolo gets pretty much retired as it has so few advantages over the Earfun Uboom. The Uboom like the flip and UE Boom, is basically slightly larger than a 16oz beer can, shorter but thicker than a 16oz bootle of water. Since black friday, I have purchased the Tribit Maxsound Plus, the Tribit X Sound Go, the Earfun Go and the Earfun Uboom. Overall the Xsound Go and Uboom are most impressive. The earfun go felt much more uncontrolled and muddy than the X sound go, while being larger and less portable, (the X sound Go is a good candidate to be lightweight travel companion, but I'm still evaluating a few others) . The Maxsound was very good, but the Earfun Uboom is a bit better, the bass is deeper and much more natural sounding (doesn't sound as artificially boosted) . The DSP tuning is makes this far and away the most audiophile sounding portable speaker I've heard. It is also USB-C which allows me to reduce my cable and charger count when traveling. The ability to pair two is awesome, but I don't see a use case for me. Anyway, check out Oluv's reviews on youtube on this and other speakers. I don't think you can get a better sound/size ratio than this without going over a couple hundred dollars. Show Full Review
